First HelMA Mini Grants awarded

Two cooperative student projects have been approved to receive funding

In December 2010, the first two HelMA Mini Grants have been granted. The award committee was pleased by the innovative ideas and quality of the submitted grant proposals, and the choice after thorough evaluation was not easy.

Two PhD student cooperative projects will receive funding:

  1. Ulrich Hafen (Helmholtz Zentrum München) and Sandra Walser (Max-Planck-Institut für Psychiatrie, Munich): „Analysis of the role of DJ-1 in neuroinflammation and its links to Parkinson’s disease associated depression”

  2. Jennifer Lopez Escobar (Forschungszentrum Jülich) and Lisa Glasl (Helmholtz Zentrum München): “Analysis of neurotransmitter receptors and chemical elements in the brain of DJ-1 knockoput mice using quantitative receptor autoradiography and LA-ICP-MS“
