The goal of this research topic is to identify and validate genetic and non-genetic factors which cause and modify the major age-related neurodegenerative diseases, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease, by analysing large patient cohorts using clinical, biochemical and imaging methodologies. The studies will also aim to identify biomarkers and refine endophenotype definitions in order to improve disease detection and monitoring of progression, which is essential for the development of novel disease modifying treatments.
